A clean site makes for easy navigation.
What do I mean by a clean site?
If you go to a site and it takes you five minutes to take all the information in and then figure out where to go...just from the homepage...then it is too crowded.
Websites are designed as a...well...web. A spiderweb that is connected in the middle...but has multiple directions when leaving the middle, or "home."
A good clean "home," or homepage will have simple and relevant information, but not overwhelm the visitor.
It also keeps your information organized if the bulkier stuff, the lengthy text is saved for its own page and its own section.
